Become your own transformational leader

By William Seidman This morning I gave the keynote to the Oregon Health Information Management Association at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lake Oswego, Oregon. There was a great group of about 175 people, representing a wide variety of responsibilities within health information management including research coordination, patient advocacy, data entry and financial management. My talk was “Managing Change: Becoming Your Own Transformational Leader.” In a nutshell: When you work in a crucial and strategic place in any organization, your potential for leadership is actually vast. We had a lot of discussion about the social good each of us can work toward and how to achieve operational excellence and, then, influence. There were many probing questions and comments indicating good engagement and enthusiasm for the ideas. This is a great group; I’m looking forward to their next meeting.]]>
