One of the biggest challenges that HR managers face is capturing and sharing knowledge that existing employees have that has been gathered over years of service. That critical information needs to be shared with new hires and employees who have been promoted so that they can quickly become as productive as possible in their new roles. A little background before we move forward. One customer we’ve been working with is an IT consulting firm that had a director of operations who was retiring and wanted to find a way to train her replacement. The company used Sofia to gather and organize her critical knowledge and wisdom in just a couple of hours. Instead of setting up a series of meetings to discuss how to transition active projects and train the replacement, she scheduled a one-hour session with her replacement, using Sofia to guide their focused discussion. When asked about the process, the new hire said that the experience was “tremendous…very organized and useful.” The transition meetings took a total of two hours and the new hire, who had been with the company for only four days, said that the process of sharing valuable information was incredibly engaging, was done over a very short period of time and it greatly reduced her anxiety level.
Another example of how the neuroscience-based learning module is poised to help a company comes from a customer of ours that builds residential and commercial architectural doors. We’re just starting to work with them but the long-and-short of it is that the company has a retiring knowledge worker and an HR manager feels it’s important to capture as much historical information as possible so that the new hire can benefit from their predecessor’s years of experience. The information that’s being gathered not only helps the new employee, it can be used in the future with other employees.
