{"id":2125,"date":"2011-03-27T16:53:15","date_gmt":"2011-03-27T23:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cerebyte.com\/journal\/?p=2125"},"modified":"2011-03-27T16:53:15","modified_gmt":"2011-03-27T23:53:15","slug":"transformational-leadership-in-a-transactional-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cerebyte.com\/2011\/03\/27\/transformational-leadership-in-a-transactional-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Transformational Leadership in a Transactional World"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[<strong>By William Seidman<\/strong>\n\nWe recently had an article accepted for publication\u00a0by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.odnetwork.org\/publications\/practitioner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">OD Practitioner<\/a>, the journal of the\u00a0Organization Development Network.\n\nOur\u00a0subject is\u00a0&#8220;Transformational Leadership in a Transactional World.&#8221;\n\nI&#8217;ve been talking, and blogging, about this for a while since it&#8217;s a topic I care a lot about.\n\n<strong>Organizations are increasingly being driven\u00a0to focus on the narrowest transactional management<\/strong>.\n\nAt the same time, there are increasing pressures on organizations to change in important and core ways.\n\nThese two pressures \u2013 transactional and transformational &#8212; are in conflict: the more transactional &#8212; day to day &#8212; \u00a0pressure, the less able organizations are to change. <strong>You can&#8217;t redesign the roof when you&#8217;re busy bailing out the rainwater.<\/strong>\n\nHowever, the evidence from various sources shows that leading transformationally\u00a0&#8212; redesigning the roof &#8212; \u00a0produces transactional excellence. <strong>If the roof is good, it won&#8217;t leak.<\/strong>\n\nBut this does not work equally well in both directions: transactional excellence (efficiency with your buckets)\u00a0doesn\u2019t get you transformation &#8212; that redesigned roof.\n\nFocus\u00a0first on the\u00a0transformational, and the transactional will follow.]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[287,66],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.6 -
