{"id":4038,"date":"2013-02-18T09:00:07","date_gmt":"2013-02-18T16:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cerebyte.com\/?p=4038"},"modified":"2013-02-18T09:00:07","modified_gmt":"2013-02-18T16:00:07","slug":"the-wisdom-discovery-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cerebyte.com\/2013\/02\/18\/the-wisdom-discovery-session\/","title":{"rendered":"The Wisdom Discovery Session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[<span style=\"font-size: small;\"><strong>By William Seidman<\/strong><\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">To discover the attitudes, knowledge and skills that come so naturally to your star performers\u2014the unconscious competence they possess\u2014you must understand the general traits involved and create an environment in which people can analyze their own attitudes and behavior.\u00a0<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">Many companies have tried to institute \u201cBest Practice\u201d implementations by doing interviews. In the end, though, they developed nothing more than a list of competencies and to-do lists. Being great at a role entails more than that. If it were as easy as completing a to-do a list, almost everyone would be great at their jobs.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">Your star performers, or positive deviants, think about their jobs in very different ways and rely on a very compressed set of rules and experiences to make decisions. Interestingly, all positive deviants organize their thinking in fundamentally similar ways. That\u2019s why it is possible to use what we call the Wisdom Discovery process to obtain a very organized and clear picture of what it means to be great in any role.<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">The Wisdom Discovery process searches for the following four things from the positive deviants:<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2022 A \u00a0clear statement of their true purpose in their role &#8211; what we call The Higher Purpose<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2022 A big-picture view of the steps or phases necessary to achieve their purpose &#8212; The Path to Mastery<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2022 A deeper definition of what greatness looks like in each of the steps \u00a0&#8212; Details of Mastery<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">\u2022 The activities that build the habits necessary to achieve greatness in the role &#8212; Learning Tasks<\/span>\n\n<span style=\"font-size: small;\">These elements, organized and worded according to the latest neuroscience of learning, become the foundation for coaching others to become great in their roles.<\/span>]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<![CDATA[]]>\t\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[66,415,17,38,85,142],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v22.5 -
