The four positives

By William Seidman Fresh out of grad school, I worked enthusiastically in the corporate world. I often felt frustrated by poor leadership and thought I could do it better, so I ventured out on my own. I became an entrepreneur quite by accident, and I loved it.

Over time I’ve come to understand that it wasn’t just them; it was also me.

I’ve learned a lot since then. To lead well, focusing on the positive rather than the negative is vitally important. Any organization can use my Four Positives:
  • Positive Deviance (who the best are, and what they do)
  • Positive Images (build around them)
  • Positive Practice (do it the right way the first time)
  • Positive Reflection (think about it and make it yours)
