Do you remember what you learned in that last training class?
By William Seidman Organizations spend a lot of money on training classes and similar brief learning experiences, even though studies show that people can recall only about 10-20% of the content of a training class after a few months have passed. This is a waste of time and money! Our programs have small weekly exercises over four to five months to reinforce and sustain long-term learning. Several of our clients have now asked us to move still further into the area of sustained learning. They want us to provide periodic but highly systematic “refreshers” and/or “field guides” — reference guides — that support practical applications of their new knowledge. In response, we’ve designed a new “sustainer” capability into programs. This is a huge step forward. We’re taking a “land and learn” approach and will keep you posted about how the sustainer works. ]]>
