Careful leadership: build first, then delegate

Leaders can’t delegate – they should not delegate — until a good foundation has been established. Leadership that builds a compelling sense of purpose, so that everyone is aligned, and a clear path to mastery, ensures that everyone will be good at their jobs. Once everyone on the team is going in the same direction and can be trusted to get the work done, delegation is a natural and easy function.
